The St. Lawrence Acoustic Stage in the village of Morrisburg Ontario is launching its sixth season in 2011/12. What began as a showcase exclusively for local artists, has now grown to a nine show season (from September to May) with shows that highlight both emerging artists as well as touring professional musicians. We focus primarily on acoustic guitar and singer songwriter performances from a variety of genres, including classical, folk, fingerstyle, jazz, blues, roots and indie rock. Our primary activity is our annual music series, but we also offer workshops in musical and creative development, including workshops in jazz and fingerstyle guitar, vocal technique, songwriting and performance. We have a 172 seat venue with incredible sound and a dedicated, listening audience.

We are an incorporated not-for-profit organization and have been fortunate to receive support from the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Arts Presentation Fund, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Township of South Dundas, the Eric Baker Family Foundation, as well as contributions from individuals and local businesses. In 2011/12 we welcome Platinum Business Sponsor Coffey’s Coffee. Local individual and business sponsors in 2011/12 also include 1000 Islands Toyota, Elaine MacDonald, Ross Video and Udder Comfort. We also appreciate support received by the OETIO and T.R. Leger School.

The St. Lawrence Acoustic Stage is a member of the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals, the South Dundas Chamber of Commerce and Cornwall and Seaway Valley Tourism.

Our Board is comprised of four volunteer members: Jeanne Ward, Derek Hunter, Sandra Whitworth and Bill Carriere, all of whom make music a key part of their lives, either semi-professionally or as promoters and performers in the community. The Board also relies on support from a cast of volunteers who take on many important elements of maintaining the Series and producing the shows, including Lynn Andrews, Anu Hunter, Elaine Hunter, Mi-Sun Hunter, SheeAhn Hunter, Dick Kropp, Tony McCadden and Sharon Piché.
